The Savannah is a domestic hybrid cat breed between a serval( a medium sized African wild cat) and a domestic cat.
It became popular for breeders in the late 1990's but did not become a registered breed until 2001, and became the largest breed of domestic cats. Its tall and slim body makes it appear greater in size than their weight. The coat (color of fur) depends on the breed of cat used.

Judee Frank crossbred a male serval with a Siamese to produce the first Savannah cat. Patrick Kelley then purchased one of Savannah's kittens and attempted to make the cat a registered breed.
The Savannah cat was first produced in April 7, 1986. It then became a popular among breeders in the late 1990's and became a registered breed in 2001.
